
Keeping Your Infrared Heating Tables Alive in Wet Environments
Water and mist are basically poison for infrared heaters. In a busy shop or factory, it happens all the time. A bit of splash here, some condensation there, and suddenly your heating elements short out or the terminals start rusting away. It’s frustrating, it’s expensive, and it kills your productivity. That’s why we built our heating tables with an IP44 rating.
What IP44 actually means for you
Forget the technical manuals for a second. In plain English, IP44 means your gear can handle solid bits (anything bigger than 1mm) and—more importantly—water splashing from any direction. We don’t just slap a sticker on it. We use tight seals on the junction boxes and heavy-duty gaskets to stop moisture from sneaking into the electrical guts. Now, this isn’t a submarine. You can’t dunk it in a pool. But if a worker is using a spray bottle nearby or your floor is damp and foggy, your equipment isn’t going to fry.
Dealing with the “invisible” killer: Mist
Mist and fog are sneaky. They create this thin, conductive film over the heater. Once that happens, current starts leaking, and your heating element dies way sooner than it should. To stop this, we use special coatings and sealed enclosures. By keeping the electrical connections tucked away and bone-dry, we stop the corrosion that usually eats through wiring over time. It just stays clean.
The honest trade-off
Here is the thing: when you seal a heater up to keep water out, you’re also putting a barrier between the electronics and the air. This can make the housing run a bit warmer. You’ll want to double-check that your airflow is dialed in so the control electronics have room to breathe. It’s a small detail, but it’s the difference between a machine that lasts a decade and one that overheats.
