Ever wonder why industrial infrared lamps always seem to die right when you need them most? Usually, it comes down to two things: water and condensation. It’s a nasty cycle. Moisture hits a scorching hot quartz tube or sneaks into the electrical terminals, and—pop—you’ve got a short circuit or a cracked tube from thermal shock. It’s frustrating, expensive, and it kills your productivity. We decided to stop the bleeding by building IP65-rated seals directly into our replacement elements. What does IP65 actually do for you? In plain English, it means the unit is totally dust-tight and can handle water jets hitting it from any angle. To make that happen, we focused on the weakest point: where the quartz tube meets the end caps. We used high-temperature silicone gaskets and reinforced housing to keep out splashes and fog. It basically puts a shield around the filament chamber so moisture can’t get in to wreck the works. The trade-off (because there’s always one) We use heavy-wall quartz glass to handle the intense heat. But here’s the thing: because the IP65 housing is so good at keeping water out, it also traps more heat around the connectors than a wide-open design would. You just need to make sure your mounting brackets leave plenty of room for airflow. If the housing gets too hot for too long, those seals can start to wear down after a few thousand hours. Just give it some room to breathe. Putting them to work These are drop-in replacements. They’re perfect for food processing plants or outdoor drying setups where “wash-down day” is a regular thing. You can stop worrying about a rogue spray of water killing your entire heating cycle. Wiring them up is a breeze. Just one tip:**seat those gaskets fully.**If they’re loose, the IP65 protection is gone. Once they’re locked in, these lamps can take a real beating from humidity and mist without the terminals corroding or the filament oxidizing. It turns your maintenance from a series of “emergency” replacements into a simple, scheduled check-up.
