Preforms roll through, and if the infrared output is even slightly off, you end up with uneven stretch, crystallization, or weak necks. Then you’re down while swapping lamps, and the losses pile up. Technical specification: why the parameters matter
These custom quartz infrared lamps are engineered to deliver consistent radiant output in preform heating. You can dial in length, wattage, voltage, and base type to match the original geometry, including common R7s and quartz tube interfaces. The filament design and quartz envelope are tuned for rapid thermal response and stable output across the heating zone, so the lamp hits setpoint fast and holds it through continuous cycling. We supply measured spectral output and thermal profile data so you can verify the lamp matches your material grade and cycle time.
Why it works on the blow molder
In stretch blow molding, the preform has to land in a tight temperature window before the stretch rod and blow pin do their work. A custom-length lamp keeps the heating pattern aligned with the preform path, cutting down hot spots and cold streaks. The payoff is repeatable wall distribution, fewer rejects, and more uptime between lamp changes. Energy use drops, too, because the lamp heats on demand and holds temperature with minimal overshoot—no wasteful compensating heat filling the tunnel.
Installation and compatibility notes
These lamps drop in as direct replacements, but the tunnel reflectors and mounting brackets need to match the length and focal distance. Check clearance around the terminals and make sure the power connection matches your socket—mismatched connectors cause arcing and cut lamp life short. Non-standard lengths will take a bit longer to deliver, but the tradeoff is a heating zone that runs the way it was designed, without having to re-tune the entire blow molder.
