
Stop Letting Your Lamp Vendor Hold You Hostage
If you’ve spent any time running a blowing machine, you know the frustration. You need a replacement lamp, but the OEM has you locked in with proprietary specs. It feels like you’re stuck with one vendor who knows they’re your only option. We got tired of that. So, we built our IR lamps to break those chains. By focusing on the actual physics of short-wave radiation and sticking to standard footprints, we made lamps that just work. In fact, they drop right into about 95% of the machines you’ll find on a factory floor today.
Getting the heat just right
Here’s the thing: heating a PET preform is a balancing act. You need it to hit that glass transition temperature perfectly. If you miss, you’re in trouble. We spend a lot of time on the wattage density and voltage ranges. Whether your setup is 220V or 380V, we’ve dialed in the filament length and diameter to match the heat profile you’re used to. Think about a 300mm tube. It’s not just about the length. It’s about how much power is packed into every single centimeter. If that number is too low, your cycle times drag. If it’s too high? You’ll start seeing thin spots in your bottle walls. Not a good look.
The guts of the lamp
We use heavy-wall quartz glass because these things take a beating. They go from cold to scorching hot and back again, over and over. That thermal shock would crack cheaper glass. Plus, we fill them with halogen gas. This keeps the filament from evaporating too quickly, which means the lamp lasts longer before it finally gives up the ghost. As for the connections, we use the old reliable R7s and SK15 standards. They’re the workhorses of the industry for a reason. They seat firmly in the socket, so you don’t have to worry about arcing or loose fits.
A quick heads-up on installation
The best part is that you don’t have to rewire your panels or mess around with your lamp holders. You just swap them out and get back to work. But a word of caution. High-output short-wave lamps put out an incredible amount of heat. If you decide to push the wattage higher than your original specs to squeeze out a bit more production speed, keep an eye on your cooling blowers. They need to be able to handle that extra ambient heat, or you might end up warping your reflectors.
