
Fixing the Heat Gap in KOSME KSB 4000/6000 Machines
If you’ve spent any time with KHS or KOSME blow molders, you know the headache of uneven heat. One part of the bottle is perfect, but another has a thin wall or a structural weak spot. It’s frustrating. We built our Replacement lamps for the KSB 4000 and 6000 series to stop that from happening. We focused on one main goal: closing the gap between the scorching center and the lukewarm ends of the heating zone. The nitty-gritty on power Getting the wattage and voltage just right is a balancing act. Too much, and you scorch the preform. Too little, and you get those annoying “cold spots” that ruin the stretch. We tightened up the filament winding to make sure the radiant energy actually spreads across the whole quartz tube. It gives you a steady heat flux. One quick heads-up, though. High-wattage tubes put more pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your blowers are clogged with dust, your lamps will burn out early. It doesn’t matter how good the lamp is—if it can’t breathe, it’s going to pop. Built for the grind Production lines are brutal. The constant heating and cooling can crack cheap glass, so we used high-purity quartz. It can take the hit. Depending on how old your machine is, these come with R7s or Sk15 connectors. They just slide right in. No weird adapter brackets, no fuss. We also tweaked the halogen cycle. It pushes the tungsten back onto the filament, which stops that annoying flickering or dimming that usually happens right before a lamp dies. What this actually means for your floor These lamps are tuned to the specific way PET resin absorbs infrared light. When the heat field is stable, you stop spending your whole shift tweaking the oven settings. You can actually push the line faster. You get the speed without seeing that cloudy “pearlescence” in the base of the bottle. It’s a simple swap. You pull out the old, uneven lamps, pop these in, and the heating issues that plague aging KOSME setups just… go away.
